GA Season 3

September 23rd, 2007 by shaec

I’m finally done with GA Season 3. Yay!! But no yay .. :(

It was a good drama series - the fact that my favourite characters were Mere and her Mcdreamy (Mmm… yummy!). Well, the ending wasn’t what I had expected but then again, I like the fact that the series relates so much to real life happenings. Things do not always go as planned; well everyone knows this. There bound to be ups and downs in every relationship - not every individual can commit to a relationship - when we start to reliase that we want a certain thing, that is the time when we loose it and can never have it back.

Life has so much to give. The question is whether we take a minute to enjoy it.

So much for the start of this blog writing… I was told to update my blog so here I am trying to do what I was told cos the last write up I did was so lapuk (out-of-date in Malay).

For some of you who didn’t know, I have changed job once again. :)) I know, I know what you people out there are thinking, ‘WHAT? AGAIN?’. Well, ah huh. So far so good. Let’s hope that I’ll stay put here longer this time, alright?

What else? See, when a person who is as boring as me leads a life, there isn’t anything much to write about, really. So I guess I would just stop here.

Anything you people out there want to know, page me or drop me a note or text me or send me a message. :))

In love …. G’s A

April 8th, 2007 by shaec

I am madly in love…. Madly in love… with? Really, I have grown to be so crazy with Grey’s Anatomy that I also watch its repeats on Sunday although I have watched it on Wednesday. How’s that? What’s so nice about the show? The story line, the music, the song  - all of it fit just so well. People say one man’s meat another man’s poison.. ehem, did I get the saying right?

I got to know bout the show by accident. Ah hah.. Accident. 2 of my friends were raving bout how good this show is, yadda yadda yadda and I was like ‘Aghhh’. I thought it’s somewhat like House or Prison Break or ER or Boston Public or other mini drama series; so I didn’t give a damn.

But on one faithful Tuesday night, as I was flipping through the local channels to see if there’s anything nice worth watching - that was the day when I set my eyes on Grey’s Anatomy …. Hahahahah … And ever since then I am hooked to the show. I think I started on its Season 2. Now going for Season 3. Once over, I might just search for Season 1 and watch it just to complete it.

I am actually interested in Derek and Meredith. In my opinion, Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo played their role really well. And I love them in the series. I never liked Patrick Dempsey before this but now I think he’s hot. Hahahahahh …. maybe only in this show. He also starred in Sweethome Alabama with Reese Witherspone. Maybe I should watch that movie again. *Wink!

Well not forgetting other characters like, Izzie and Alex, Christina and Burke, Callie and George, and Addison and Mark. All have different stories.

Anyway, apart from Grey’s Anatomy, other mini drama series which are worth watching are Six Degrees, Ugly Betty and Men in Trees. Desperate Housewives is boring now. So I skip that show. Heroes is also another hit but I can’t seem to enjoy it.

Thumbs up to NTV7 and 8TV for featuring such good English mini drama series. At least there’s a reason to stay home now.

Grey’s Anatomy is on every Wednesday, 10.45 p.m. and its repeat is on every Sunday, 1.30 p.m. on NTV7 and Star Movie, Channel 70 on Astro every Sunday at 11.00 a.m.

Different priorities

February 6th, 2007 by shaec

We all have our own circle of friends. Some friends we have known since school days, some during college and some at work. All these different groups of friends were by our side in different situations. However, not sure if anyone noticed that some friends who were once close are no longer that close now.

I was chatting with a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago on this topic. I was glad that I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. I noticed that when I hang out with my different groups of friends, there were occasions where I have nothing to talk to them other than listening to them. Little did I realise, I do feel out of place at times. Who would not when you do not understand what they are talking about. I mean it’s not so much of the language but the topic. Not everyone can talk about everything under the sky. Sometimes it’s more of self discussion among themselves rather than a common topic. When I try to talk about my topic, it doesn’t interest them so no point mentioning anything at all.

I would say it is less fun hanging out together this way cos half the time or rather 3/4 of the time I would be sitting and listening and in between, smile or laugh at their ‘not-so-my cup of tea’ jokes.

Like the friend of mine said, as we grow old we change. I agree and as we changed our priorities are different. No one can make another likes what he or she doesn’t like. And it’s not advisable to put them is such ‘forceful’ situation where they have to accommodate to our likings. As such, I would say, if we find that we are losing things to say or finding it hard to initiate a conversation with your once upon a time good friends/friends, do not force yourself. Just once in a while a good hello would be sufficient to keep in touch.

Plus, having a conversation is not that simple at times. Everyone deserves respect. We all know how it feels when certain things said do hurt our feelings but we always forget that at times the things we say do hurt peoples’ feelings. Keeping silent doesn’t mean that person is okay or agree with the things we say. We could have hurt his/her feelings but to avoid creating a scene or having any frictions, he/she choose to keep silent. Sad to say, many people do not realise that. In order to get attention, they might say things of another person without thinking whether it affects that person or not.

Nevertheless, life goes on. No wonder people say it’s not easy looking for best friend(s).

Unemployed

January 23rd, 2007 by shaec

I was reading an article somewhere about bumiputra graduates ("B-grads") should stop being dependent on the government. The content of the article was so appropriately said about the growing number of unemployed B-grads these days. A comparison was done by comparing now and then (1990s). Back then it was said that, there were less unemployed B-grads because the government would try its best to absorb them into civil service, GLC’s, etc. However, they found it hard to look for job when the government decided to reduce the number of civil servants due to the economic crisis. But now, the number of unemployed B-grads has out-numbered the available vacancies in GLC’s and agencies.

The Government had introduced the retraining programme for the unemployed graduates which provides them a subsidy of RM500 which does not serve any purpose. From the information I have gathered, such retraining programme includes improving the proficiency of the grads’ English, how to handle an interview session, etc.

If you ask me, I think the education system for the tertiary level should be improved or let’s work from the basics, our entire education system needs some ‘polishing’ or maybe some ‘waxing’ too. Having Bahasa Malaysia as the national language is of course no wrong. However, when you are preparing the youths at the tertiary level to start their career path where English language is widely used in most parts of the world, subjects should be taught in English like in the private colleges.

Please don’t get me wrong, I am not idolising the West but let’s face reality here. We need to survive. And to survive we need a job which pays us a meagre salary. And to get a job, reasonable comprehension level of English language is required. These days, tertiary education seems to be easily obtainable. Throw a stone or two and you’ll definitely hit a few with Diploma or Degree in hand. But are they with jobs? That’s a different question. The question here is the quality of the academic qualification you have in hand. But we must also remember that, having a qualification in hand is one. It has to be coupled with good communication skills and right working attitude.

I think it’s time that the unemployed B-grads learn to stand on their own feet. The RM500/- could be saved and used for other charitable purpose. Maybe helping the flood victims in Johor.

Dinner on Monday

January 23rd, 2007 by shaec

Watched Grey’s Anatomy yesterday night. Nope… I am not going to talk about yesterday’s episode. Am beginning to like the series more and more. Wouldn’t say I don’t know why .. I guess cos it’s easy to relate to the various role play in the drama series and it’s pretty reality based. I mean those situations could most probably happened to anyone of us. Just that we do not talk bout it. Alrite, enough of Grey’s Anatomy.

Dinner on Monday was good at Ronnie Q’s, Bangsar despite the 1 hour waiting. I finally got to meet Evie’s daddy and mummy. Hi auntie! Hi uncle! Heheheh …. I heard auntie bakes really good chocolate cake which makes you go savouring the taste once you have tasted it. Is that nice… So Evie, err… tumpang a slice or 2 of your mom’s chocolate cake when you go back to your hometown? *wink!

Food at Ronnie Q’s was good but the place was dead quiet. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think we were the only table who were dining. We had all the non-halal food there.. pork, pork, and more pork …. hmmm… yummy yummy….. still yet to try the beef stew or something like that (recommended by GingerlySexy). :))

WHO???????

January 12th, 2007 by shaec

Been quite lazy to write these days…. I know i know, it’s just the beginning of the year and I’m feeling so dull …. The start of 2007 seems different from the previous years…. I used to be so all geared up at the beginning of the year, so full of spirit but this year somehow is different. I’m just not in the mood.

Anyway, I was watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy on Tuesday -the episode on Meredith having this feeling that she was going to die that day - a Black Code warning was spread throughout the hospital after finding out that a trauma victim who was wheeled into the operating room with the paramedic’s hand inside him to stop the bleeding had also a piece of unexploded munition while testing a homemade bazooka. As everyone was asked to leave the operating room leaving only the paramedic (named Hannah) and another doctor while waiting for the bomb squad to arrive, the doctor who was accompanying Hannah in the operating room left her alone with the victim. Meredith, being a kind soul stepped in to the OR to check on Hannah found that she was alone with the victim. As afraid as anyone could be being in Hannah’s shoes, she told Meredith that she was going to take her hand out from the victim’s body and leave; as she was not able to take it anymore. After much talking, it ended up with Meredith’s hand replacing Hannah’s as Hannah pulled her hand out of the victim. To cut the story short, the unexploded munition was finally being pulled out of the victim’s body but it exploded killing Dylan, one of the bomb squad team members in front of Meredith. At the end of the story, Meredith asked, ‘IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO DIE TODAY, WHO WOULD YOU WANT TO SPEND IT WITH?’

I was pondering on this question after the show. Of course I want to spend it with my family but can I have my friends as well? Friends who have been there for me most of the time.

So, I am throwing back this question to you, if you know you are going to die today, who would you want to spend it with? Of course many of you would think it depends on circumstances. But if everything remains the same, like in economics, who would you want to spend the day with?

The end of 2006 - The beginning of 2007

January 2nd, 2007 by shaec

If there’s a beginning there’s always an end to it. Like every other year, it comes and goes. 2006 has just ended last Sunday and a brand new 2007 is here. In brief, 2006 was an eventful year for me. There were ups and downs in every aspects of my life. What’s in store for me in 2007, I don’t know, of course. But I hope it’ll be a better year not only for me but for my family and friends.

So Happy New Year everyone. May all have a much peaceful and harmonious year.

82

December 12th, 2006 by shaec

Happy b-day to u, happy b-day to u, happy b-day to Sharon, happy b-day to u! Clap! Clap! Clap! My b-day song to myself… and with that I officially turned ‘82′.

The day went by quite good. At least no one pissed me off in the office. Strings of sms came in and it’s kinda nice receiving smses from people you least expected. Hmmm….. Some, I am way too surprised that they know my birthdate. *Raised eyebrow!

Had dinner with this old good pal of mine. We had TGIF. And she told one of the crew members at TGIF it was my b-day. Guess what? They did it the TGIF style - I HAD TO STAND ON THE CHAIR!!! Bohooo!!!!! Quite malufying but …. fun! At least I had this one cute waiter serving me the whole time plus a whole jing bang of handsome crew members singing the unplugged version of TGIF b-day song which ended with a shout at my ears.

Maybe for the meantime I will not go TGIF - that particular outlet especially. On my way back after dinner, I got a call from my evil friend (my goodie goodie goodie friend) who sang me her version of b-day song followed by the monkey version of b-day song from another goodie goodie goodie friend also. And I was told to update my blog after the yam rice recipe I last wrote. ;)

So here I am updating my blog with what took place on 12th December 2006. Oh and a special thank you to this friend of mine who treated me to 2 slices of b-day cake at Secret Recipe in October cos we know we’ll not meet up on my b-day itself. *wink! You know who you are. Thank you, thank you. To those who had wished me through the various communication modes, thank you very much. It had made my day. ;))

Enjoy reading!! Cheers!;>

Yam Rice

November 23rd, 2006 by shaec

I am so excited. I had yam rice for lunch. One of my colleagues cooked it. I like it. I like it. I like it. Wanna know how to make it?

All you need is to boil your rice separately. Then you fry some onions until it turned soft; add in either cubes of pork or chicken, stir fry it until it is cooked then add in the yam (cut in cubes too); keep stir frying it until the yam turned soft; add in black soy sauce and pepper; close the lid of the wok to let it simmer for 10 minutes; pour the content into the pot of rice and mix it together. Mix it well and keep it warm in the rice cooker.

So there you go, home cooked yam rice. Now I would strongly suggest to add in slices of black mushroom. I think it’ll add more flavour to it. Hmmm…. yum yum …..

Happy trying. :)

Nescafe

November 23rd, 2006 by shaec

Now, I know a lot of you out there would probably think that I am such a useless person for not knowing how to make a decent cup of nescafe. Nope, not talking bout nescafe ‘o - all you need is just nescafe and sugar to mix it. I am talking bout nescafe, the one you have in the mamak stall. Thanks to my colleague who showed me how to make a real nice cup of nescafe.

A sample for a small cup of nescafe, you would need:

i) a half teaspoon of nescafe;

ii) a quarter teaspoon bit of sugar;

iii) 2 teaspoon of condensed milk (if you dun want it to be too sweet); and

iv) a teaspoon or a teaspoon and a half on evaporated milk.

And there you have it, a decent cup of nescafe to boost your mood/energy in the middle of a busy schedule. This simple guide might not be applicable to most of you out there cos I believe a lot of you take nescafe or nescafe ‘o for breakfast as opposed to me. In case any one of you (who happened to be such an expert in making nescafe) suddenly loses your memory over such simple thing, you know where to refer to. :) Well, it’s more like for my reference …. hehheeh…

Anyway, have fun trying, folks!
